About Me

I fell in love with wildlife as a young child, sometimes feeling like I understood the animals more than I understood people. I picked up my first “big-boy” camera at the age of 12, and I could finally start to document all of the special moments I saw as I sat with my furry, feathered, and scaled friends.

I always saw this as just a hobby, something to occupy my time and keep me in the bush as much as possible. I would fall in and out of love with photography, and life would often get in the way, but I would always keep a place for it in my heart. During one of these “lulls” in my passion, a little thing called COVID hit the world, and suddenly it seemed that the only thing to do was be out in the woods. I dusted off my trusty Canon and started shooting again.

I was lucky enough to visit southern Africa with my camera during this period of rediscovery, and I cannot overstate the impact this had on my life. It was transformative, and I will always be grateful I took the chance to do it. From then on I was officially hooked.

I still saw it as just a hobby, but my wonderful wife encouraged me to follow my passion and see if I could make this more than just a hobby. It’s not my full-time career (yet), but I am hoping to share my passion, hobby, avocation, or whatever this is with you all. Even if I don’t make a dime, I hope that I can at least inspire you to follow your passions, see the natural world a little bit differently, and start to listen to the stories happening all around you.
